Fitz returns

May 27, 2016

“I was beset with cramps at the bottom of Fitz’s on the return journey of the 80k and walked most of the way back. I was overwhelmed by the offers of support from the more serious riders on their return journeys, actually willing to stop if I asked. It was a great feeling of belonging. Thanks to all the organisers and volunteer helpers, you did a great job and I will be back next year.”

On 1 June, registrations will open for the 2016 Fitz’s Challenge – Canberra’s toughest long distance cycling event – to be held on Sunday 30 October.

Not only are there five course options for participants, but also the opportunity to contribute to the cause of The Kids’ Cancer Project. By riding in the event for The Kids’ Cancer Project, you are directly helping to end childhood cancer, as all money raised goes towards funding critical research.

If you would like to fundraise for your ride, The Kids’ Cancer Project has set up an Everyday Hero page where any participant is welcome to sign up:

The cyclosportive event provides an opportunity for cyclists of all abilities to see Canberra’s Brindabella Ranges within a supported environment at a distance best suited to their fitness level. Over 1400 participants took to the Ranges in 2015 by riding one of the following courses:

There are rest stops featured along each course and they are renowned for the friendly volunteers managing them, along with the nutrition provided.

Fitz’s Challenge provides a unique community, and sense of belonging. Here’s some feedback received from 2015 participants:
